Laventur

Effective June 20, 2026

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Laventur collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our websites, mobile apps, public pages, photo import tools, travel maps, lists, and related services.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information, such as email address, username, display name, avatar, bio, authentication provider, account settings, and hashed password.
  • User Content, such as travel logs, reviews, ratings, notes, lists, saved links, link metadata, photos, thumbnails, public map pages, profile information, friend tags, and other content you provide.
  • Photo import information, such as selected photo thumbnails, dates, EXIF-derived coordinates, generated places, map visibility, and generated Open Graph map images. Photo scanning happens on your device, and selected thumbnails and location/date data are uploaded when you publish or sync a map.
  • Location-related information, such as photo coordinates, reverse-geocoded places, map pins, and places you log, save, review, or add to lists.
  • Usage and device information, such as IP address, browser, device type, operating system, referring pages, pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location inferred from IP address, and diagnostics.
  • Analytics information, such as page views, page leaves, sign-up and login events, landing-page interactions, and scroll-depth events. We use PostHog only after analytics consent where the app shows a consent prompt.
  • Error and security information, such as API errors, stack traces, endpoint names, status codes, request timing, and application logs through services such as Sentry and cloud logging. Session replay is disabled.
  • Communications, such as support requests, legal requests, privacy requests, email delivery metadata, and messages we send through providers such as Resend.

2. Sources

We collect information directly from you, from your device, from content you choose to import or publish, from linked third-party pages when you save links, from map and geocoding providers, from authentication providers when you sign in with them, and from service providers that help us operate Laventur.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide, maintain, secure, debug, and improve Laventur.
  • Create accounts, authenticate users, support social login, and send service emails.
  • Scan selected photos, create thumbnails, reverse geocode coordinates, build travel maps, generate previews, and publish or restrict content based on visibility settings.
  • Display profiles, feeds, public maps, lists, shared pages, search results, place pages, recommendations, and community discovery features.
  • Process saved links and fetch publicly available metadata such as title, thumbnail, creator, platform, and Open Graph data.
  • Analyze product usage, measure feature performance, and understand onboarding and conversion after analytics consent.
  • Detect, prevent, investigate, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, spam, scraping, rights violations, and policy violations.
  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms, respond to legal requests, and protect the rights, privacy, safety, and property of Laventur, users, and others.

4. AI and Automated Processing

Laventur may use automated systems, machine learning, or AI-assisted tools to operate, protect, moderate, organize, summarize, suggest, translate, rank, recommend, or improve the service. We may also use automated systems to cluster photos by location, identify places from coordinates, and generate previews.

Unless we say otherwise in a feature notice or obtain your consent, we do not use private photos, private photo metadata, or private lists to train third-party AI foundation models. We may use aggregated, de-identified, or otherwise non-personal information to improve Laventur.

5. How We Disclose Information

  • At your direction, including when you publish public content, share a public list link, publish a public map, follow users, or connect with other people.
  • To other users and the public, based on your visibility settings and public activity. Public content may be indexed, cached, copied, or redistributed outside Laventur.
  • To service providers that help us run Laventur, including AWS/S3 for hosting and storage, Mapbox for maps/geocoding/static map images, PostHog for consented analytics, Sentry for error monitoring, Resend for email, app stores, authentication providers, and infrastructure providers.
  • To third-party websites or APIs when you ask us to fetch link previews or display embedded or linked content.
  • For legal, safety, and security reasons, including to comply with law, legal process, rights requests, abuse reports, DMCA notices, and enforcement of our Terms.
  • In connection with a business transaction, such as a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, asset sale, bankruptcy, or similar event.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide required choices.

6. Public Content and Visibility

Your username, display name, avatar, bio, public lists, public travel maps, public logs, reviews, ratings, saves, follows, place activity, and public photos or thumbnails may be visible to others. Shared public list links may be viewed by anyone with the link.

Private map visibility restricts the map endpoint, but people with access to content may still copy or share it. Search engines, browsers, social networks, and other services may cache public pages or previews.

7. Cookies, Local Storage, and Analytics

Laventur uses local storage and similar technologies for account authentication and optional analytics consent. PostHog analytics uses local storage only after analytics consent through our consent prompt. We disabled PostHog autocapture and session recording, so analytics is limited to page views and explicit product events we send.

You can clear browser storage to remove local tokens and analytics consent settings. Clearing storage may sign you out or reset choices.

8. Retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide Laventur, maintain your account, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, protect the service, and support legitimate business needs. Public content may remain available until removed. Backups, logs, cached copies, and records needed for security, legal, or compliance reasons may persist for a limited time after deletion.

9. Your Choices

  • Update profile information and map visibility in the app where available.
  • Delete or edit content where the product provides those controls.
  • Decline optional analytics in the consent prompt or clear browser storage to reset the prompt.
  • Request access, correction, deletion, export, restriction, or other privacy help by emailing privacy@laventur.com.
  • Request account deletion by emailing support@laventur.com from the email address associated with your account.

10. State Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and whether applicable law covers Laventur, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information; to opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling; to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; and to appeal a privacy request decision. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

California residents may request information about categories of personal information collected, sources, purposes, disclosures, retention, and rights. Laventur collects identifiers, account information, internet or network activity, geolocation-related information, user-generated content, photos/thumbnails, inferences from service activity, and sensitive personal information such as precise location data when you choose to import or publish it.

11. EEA, UK, and Swiss Users

Where GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws apply, our legal bases may include performance of a contract, consent, legitimate interests, legal obligations, and protection of rights and safety. You may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, port data, and withdraw consent. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Laventur is operated from the United States, and information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

12. Security

We use technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No service is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and devices secure.

13. Children

Laventur is not directed to children under 13, and our Terms require users to be at least 18 or the age of majority where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information to Laventur, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

14. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice by reasonable means, such as posting the updated policy, updating the effective date, or contacting you.
